Session 1 SAT/ACT Homework Assignment

Below is the SAT/ACT prep assignment to be completed before our next session, Sunday, 1/21. The reading and math assignment are each intended to offer practice using the particular tactics and methods we expounded at our first lesson. I've assigned College Board practice PSAT material, which is nearly equivalent to SAT material, to conserve the 8 practice tests in the Official SAT Study Guide - we'll get to them soon. Please contact me - text to 917.501.2761 is quickest! - if you have any questions about the assignment.
  • Reading
    • Study thoroughly passage tactics and q&a tactics
    • Print out the passage and complete the passage briefing exercise and q&a exercise for each of
    • Note about Google Forms: The above passage and q&a exercises are posted as Google Forms to facilitate and clarify the process, but if you have any technical trouble (getting forms to load, submiting, etc.), please simply perform the exercise on paper - practice at these key skills is what's essential, forms notwithstanding.
  • Math
    • Study thoroughly SAT/ACT math tactics.
    • Print out and complete Section 3 of PSAT Practice Test 1, focusing on using math tactics
      • Do not limit your time on this section, but do pace yourself in preparation for the test's time constraints. Remember also that this is the no calculator math section.
      • Grade yourself using the answer key (a separate download on the above-linked page) and mark and review any questions you didn't answer correctly.
    • Print out and complete Section 4 of PSAT Practice Test 1, focusing on using math tactics
      • Time yourself strictly on this section - the limit is 45 minutes for 31 total questions.
      • Use the provided grid sheet (yet another download) to bubble your answers; when grading, grade your grid sheet rather than your test booklet (as will be the case on the real test).
      • Grade yourself using the answer key (a separate download on the above-linked page) and mark and review any questions you didn't answer correctly.
